Ce ci-devant noble catésien se plaint des menaces reçues la veille sous forme d'une lettre anonyme ornée d'un dessin le représntant.. pendu! "Comme jusqu'à ce moment je n'ai vu de l'assemblée nationale(sic) aucun décret qui autorise de pendre indistinctement d'honnêtes gens soupçonnés d'être aristocrates.. je crois l'être moi, à vous porter ma plainte sur l'insulte et menace qui m'a été faite hier... Vous m'avouerez Monsieur, qu'il est malheureux pour un honnête homme d'être affcihé de cette manière..." Le dessin, naîf et curieux mais néanmoisn explicite, est accompagné de quleques sentences tels que "ça ira les aritocrates à la Lanterne" ou "Voilà la destinée des aristocrates". L'accusateur public Toussaint Convey expose l'affaire dans une lettre aux "présidents et juges du districts de Cambrai", suivie du procès-verbal de réception de la plainte et de 8 signatures.
